JALAN JALAN MASAK MASAK is a Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Indonesia term loosely translated into English as ‘walk walk cook cook’, but it incorporates the idea of leisurely walking around together with the young children’s cooking game of ‘masak masak’. It’s a regional connection in language that is shared with those from Asia – the double use of a word.

Jalan Jalan Masak Masak is the name used since 1999 for my private dining business. I thoroughly enjoyed going around cooking, eventually, travelling all over and cooking Southeast Asian food for wonderful clients who also became my friends, and making a fun game out of it. As the saying goes ‘If you love what you do, you’ll never have to work another day in your life’. I also like to think of it as a friend once put it, giving the experience of ‘fearless dining’.

On this site, I want to share my food experiences with you – and it’s not only about Asian food – it’s all about healthy food from the world, the history, the sources of supply, the preparation and the cooking fun you can have with it. Gaining more knowledge about the diversity of cultures through cuisine is a winning topic with me. I’m an advocate of healthy eating habits and supporting close to source produce. I’ll take you through my travels – in Asia and the rest of the world, and share good times, great flavours, and guess what? Great easy recipes for you to try.
